A recent eMail that I sent talked about an unusual photograph that I saw over in Fort Fairfield. A club member returned a message talking about a photograph that they have that looks like it was on a metal plate.
We speculated that it could be a daguerreotype that is shot onto a metal plate or a tintype. Long story short, I ran into the Daguerreian Society a group dedicated to the history, science, and art of the daguerreotype.
When you visit the Society MAKE SURE you visit the gallery. If you have flash loaded you can zoom in quite a bit and really see examples of this technology. The resolution and clarity of these photographs can be amazing.
