Introduction to Photography

Last night we started our "Introduction to Photography". This was offered to those new to Photography and to those that need to buff up on their understanding. There were 9 of us there not counting my self.  The feed back I was getting sounded good.

We watched 15 mins of a DVD as an introduction and then turned to living examples that we could handle, touch and see.  Using "Live View" on one of the cameras we were able to see what effect Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO could have on exposure and learned that there is more then one correct exposure/shot. We learned that if we moved one setting (lets say shutter speed) then we had to compensate to with either the Aperture or ISO to get another correct exposure this time with different values.

The class will continue online where problems will be presented and answered will be given.... We'll do this via the forum.

Check the calendar for the next class where we will apply what we learned last night.

We will be starting an introductory class in photography starting next week.  This class will be held each Wednesday in between the meeting dates at 7pm, the location is TBA. (see the calendar on this site).

It will help the beginning photographer master the essential components of photography.

What will you learn?

- The basics of how a camera works.

- The concepts of exposure and what three settings that effect it.

- Shutter Speed, Aperture  and ISO and how they interact.

- Focus and Depth of Field (DOF).

- Lens, what to use when.

- Light and how to use it.

- Composition

What to bring? Your camera and it's manual of course! Ugh! :-)
