He had a milk bone but was wanting another... He gets a fresh one each morning and the fact that he had one left over from last night sitting right in front of him didn't matter... He wanted his morning bone!

So I pointed this fact out to him, literally and verbally. He stood over it staring straight down at it, his nose inches away. "You better get that bone" I told him sternly and with concern... "If you don't get that bone someone else is going to get that bone!.." still staring at it, nose now an inch away. It wasn't working so I had to up the anty. I reminded him about the cats, he knows them as Kikies, and how they can't be trusted and would get his bone if he didn't eat it.... "You know those Kikies, they'll come and eat your bone!".

All of this talk about someone else stealing or eating his bone always makes him quite nervous and he'll pick up the bone and go to the door and spend quite a bit of time looking for a good spot in the snow to bury it. This keeps him busy enough that he forgets his demand for the NEW morning bone which he'll get later this morning and covet till this afternoon.

He'll sweet talk someone into giving him one tonight, which is what he was doing in the photo above and sleep with it until tomorrow morning when the routine will start all over. It is important to keep a stash of bones around the yard for snacks so he keeps working at it.

Photography in the News

ALLEN AFIELD: Learning deer behavior through photography
Morning Sentinel
During that era, though, my real education came from wildlife photography, particularly with deer, black bear and moose.
The original plan for this year was to lay out all of the aspects of photography what we wanted to cover on our calendar, but we all know that the best laid plans can go up in smoke pretty fast. So we decided to take this one session (one meeting) at a time. This would give us the flexibility to move as we saw need.

The poll was pretty clear. There is a big interested in Portraiture... all types of portraiture. This does not mean we will ignore the other items but we decided to take the items that had the most interest first.

So rather then starting right out with Modeling and actually doing a portrait session, we decided to get all the basics associated with Portraiture down first before moving on to the more complicated aspects. It was agreed upon that "Alternative Lighting" would be a good starting point but we needed some time (scheduling issues).

Photography in the News

Austin photographer lands L.L.Bean job
Austin News
AUSTN (KXAN) - It is hard enough to survive in the highly competitive world of commercial photography without brilliant software programmers and camera-equipment engineers constantly coming up with ways to make it harder.
See all stories on this topic »

Much like I was yesterday at the “Women's Ski Day” and you are having problems. It is a bright day and all of that snow is blinding. You are excited but every shot seems to come out dull and under exposed, particularly your subjects. You can hardly see their faces and much of the detail is lost in darkness.

Our camera metering systems are incredible but not infallible! They are setup and expect a scene that is middle of the road in intensity, about a middle gray. They like equal amounts of brightness and darkness, but this often does not exist. When they get hit with a huge amount of white, they underexpose, of course the opposite is also true.
