The Aroostook F-Stops (TAFS) is a Non-Profit Club, organized by the professional and amateur photographers in Aroostook County, Maine whose goals are to:

1. develop a community of photographers interested in sharing photographic expertise, ideas and special knowledge of photographic equipment and software

2. promote and guide photographers in the responsible use of their cameras in the community at large and to improve the community life for all through their use

3. promote photography as a means to health by photographing the beauty of the world around us

4. expose the Aroostook County youth to the joys of photography

5. improve members' photographic and related computer skills through presentations and hands on experiences

6. provide alternative avenues of learning via the internet so that members can continue to grow as photographers

7. show the club's work to others who appreciate good photography and to the public

8. develop members' ability to objectively evaluate photographs

9. create an anonymous system for evaluating and critiquing members' photographs

Membership in the TAFS is open to anyone having an interest in any aspect of photography, either film or digital.  If you'd like to be added to the club's eMail list please contact us via the "Contact Us" page.

By joining the club you are committing yourself to upholding the club's goals, particularly the respectful use of your equipment.

You can participate at any level you desire. Some club members only interact via this website and by email due to schedules and distance.  Others wouldn't miss a meeting or an event for the life of them. You interact in the way that best suites you, there is no pressure to do other wise.

Yearly dues will be $25 for adults, $30 for family, $20 for college students and free for high school students.  We don't want dues to be a stumbling block for anyone joining the club, so there will be sponsorships available.

We've kept the dues reasonable, big clubs down state require dues as high as $45/year. Our dues will be used to support this site which, as a member, you will have access to so you can upload and edit your own work (blog, forum and galleries).  Dues will also be used to help assist guest speakers that we hope will regularly come in.  We hope to have the discretionary funds to help with  a meal or two and maybe lodging. All spending will be a club decision and all financial book keeping will be open and available to club members.

We typically meet on the first Tuesday AND the Thursday two weeks after that, each month from 7:00pm - 8:30pm at the Aroostook Centre Mall. BUT you need to follow the Calendar and the Blog or eMail the club to verify the place and time. We might move the location for any given month for reasons that can not be foreseen at this time.
